SHIRAZ 2006 A beautifully balanced, soft and yet deeply concentrated bouquet of fragrant spice and berry fruit aromas. The palate shows the very best of cool-climate shiraz characters of elegance and subtlety, with fresh dark cherries and plum, lingering spice, white pepper and gentle liquorice flavours. Aged for 15 months, first in new French Oak barriques (50%) and then prime American Oak (50%), it provides a singular complexity to the wine allowing it to be truly enjoyed when still young, and yet become a rare delight with ageing. An exceptional choice for mid to long-term cellaring (to 20 years). Open bottle or decant preferably 30 minutes prior to drinking to allow full complex flavours to develop. Alc/Vol 14%. Residual Sugar 0.66g/L - pH 3.59

Robert Parker says: It is a stylish rendition with aromas of smoky oak, mint, spice box, white pepper, black cherry and plum. Soft on the palate yet very concentrated, with subtle red and black fruit flavors with a hint of licorice, the wine has a 45-second, pure finish

MERLOT 2005 A wine of rich, dense, crimson purple colour and elegant, luscious characters with perfectly ripened fruit and well-structured oak. The palate is concentrated yet smooth, with subtle, soft tannins running through big red berry fruit and more than a hint of white truffle chocolate, spearmint and black pepper, giving the wine great structure, balance and a luscious lingering length. Aged for 15 months first in new French barriques (75%) and then new prime American Oak. Drinks beautifully now and will mature well with further cellaring (to 15 years). Allow to breathe or decant if possible for at least 20 minutes after opening. Alc/Vol 14% Residual sugar 0.28g/L - pH 3.59.

James Halliday says: Good red/purple, plenty of substance and weight, opens on the palate with primary red fruits, then a slight twist of leaf and black olive to close. 4 stars

Robert Parker says: Purple-colored, it offers up scents of wood smoke, spice box, black currant, black raspberry, and chocolate. This leads to a medium to full-bodied wine with excellent balance, sweet fruit, and ripe flavors in its elegant personality.

SAUVIGNON BLANC 2008 Picked at three different ripenesses to ensure complexity and depth of flavours, it offers lifted blossom scents and herbaceous aromas, delivering a dry, crisp, balanced flavour with a hint of lingering spice at the back of the palate and a wonderful Tropical fruit finish. An elegant and perfect accompaniment to spicy and/or assertively flavoured fish dishes, as it is to recipes with goats cheese, fresh tomatoes and asparagus which are often a challenge for wine paring. Bottled using screw-cap closures to maintain top wine quality and purity of flavours.Alc/Vol 12.5% Residual Sugar 4.0g/L - pH 3.15 James Halliday says: Straw green, crisp, clean and well-made. Mineral and a hint of passionfruit 4 stars Robert Parker says: - is medium straw-colored with lovely aromas of mineral, fresh herbs, melon, and lemon-lime. Medium-bodied, in the mouth it is full-flavored with ripe fruit and vibrant acidity. There is superb depth and concentration leading to a very long, fruit-filled finish. Made in the style of a top-level Sancerre, this stylish effort will drink will for 2-3 years.

An almost perfect vintage, hot at the right times, meaning the vines come under the necessary stress during the growing period that leads to smaller berries and subsequent intensity of flavour.

Wine: Straw yellow in colour with brilliant golden hues. Aromas of passion-fruit and Nashi pears are enhanced by orange-blossom and subdued citrus notes. The palate delivers crisp, balanced flavours of lemon zest and a hint of 'spritz' on the tongue, followed by a singular spice finish becoming golden and honeyed with age. Robert Parker says: - is light gold with a complex bouquet of passion fruit and pear. This is followed by a medium-bodied, layered wine with spicy, intense white fruit flavors, crisp acidity, and considerable length. Drink it over the next 2-3 years although the winery claims that it has 10 years of cellaring potential. The bottom line is that this Cortese is too good to defer gratification for any significant amount of time.
